Our Vineyards

Set in the rich rugged landscapes of Heathcote, each of our vineyards tells a tale that is deeply stitched into our winemaking storybook. From the Newlans Lane Vineyard’s pinnacle premium shiraz to the evocative terroir of Slaughterhouse Paddock, these lands echo secrets and soil that are millions of years in the making.

Newlans Lane Vineyard

Our original vineyard planted in 1978, Newlans Lane is characterised by ancient Cambrian greenstone weathered into the rich red dirt that distinguishes a premium Heathcote shiraz. The Mail Coach shiraz is predominantly derived from here. It reflects the vineyard’s maturity, with successive vintages producing consistently spectacular shiraz only embodying seasonal variations. All vines are drip-irrigated, with water used thoughtfully to maintain vine health during prolonged periods of dry or heat. Two of our premium shiraz, The Wilkins Shiraz and The Origin Shiraz, are sourced entirely from this land, making them both a genuinely single vineyard wine.

Slaughterhouse Paddock

Once a cattle holding yard, this ancient land is now home to our wrinkled, crinkled vines. Some of Heathcote’s oldest plantings, this unique vineyard has a distinct terroir that makes it one of the region’s most prized vineyards.Dry-grown, nestled on the McIvor Creek and surrounded by eucalypts, the wine truly reflects a sense of place and provenance that is without peer.
